I see that the hardware enconding cards are recommended if you have older hardware (like me). I have a p4 2.0

my questions is...i want to get a dvb-t card, but do they do hardwar eencoding? i was looking at a hauppage card maybe the nova-t

if not, are there any dvb-t cards that do hardware encoding that will run ok on my p4 2.0ghz...i currently have 256ram but will save up to get an additional 512mb as it is only about $60 aussy dollars

    Hi,

Technically, no, they don't do hardware encoding. But the good thing is, that with digital TV they dont need to be, as the card already receives a fully digital signal. Hardware encoding is only needed for analog cards, where the card (with H/W Encoding) or the cpu (with S/W Encoding) first needs to convert (encode) the analog signal into digital form.

    Hope this helps
