Hi there. I need some help asap because i'm buying that config in less than 12 hours from now.

I'm looking for a low cost config, on a market without many options of hardware avaible.

I'll be buying:

AMD X2 5200+
ASUS M2A-VM HDMi
500gb Seagate SATA
1gb RAM

Is that a good config to run 1080p .mkv on a 42'' plasma?

Thanks in advance.

I would not get a 690G mobo if yo plan to use XP. I also think the GPU is to weak (got it myself, but bought a HD3450 to a) make it work on XP and b) being able to play HD).

690G is pretty old. I'd get at least a 780G or 790GX board if you don't care about multichannel LPCM, or a Nvidia 8200/8300 board if you do. 8300 I've heard has less problems.

690V or G works fine, playing mkv-files shouldnt be the problem for this chip when u use sucha strong cpu. perhaps 2GB would be better. I have used 690G with X2 4000+ an 1GB Ram and all worked pretty fine.

If u can, you should buy a 780 chipset with same cpu and 2gb ram. then its really fast but cheap
