Is there a guide somewhere on setting up remote ftp shares?

I tried getting them to work almost year ago and MediaPortal didn't seem to like my ftp server.
Now I've switched ftp servers and it tests just fine but the latest CVS version of MediaPortal doesn't even try to log in. At least before I got some stuff in the ftp server log file. Now it doesn't even act like MP is even attempting to connect.

I've checked the username, password, IP address, etc... multiple times and all are ok.

BTW, the only way the system is going to have access is through ftp. A Windows shared directory or anything like that is not an option.

I get this in the log file:
3/2/2006 3:27:16 PM ftp connect to ftp://192.168.1.100:21
3/2/2006 3:27:16 PM ftp unable to connect to ftp://192.168.1.100:21 reason:The FTP client has not yet connected to the server. The requested action cannot be performed until after a connection has been established.
3/2/2006 3:27:16 PM VirtualDirectory:unable to connect to remote share

I know this isn't a fix, but as a workaround I believe there are programs that will mount an ftp server as a drive.

I was hoping I'd be able to avoid having clients logged in when they didn't need to be. I guess this is going to migrate to the bug section if I don't hear anything to convince me otherwise soon.
