Is there an easy way to rename movies with IMDB number? (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone,

So I got my MP system (Windows 7, MP 1.1.2) set up and am now installing moving pictures. I have been taking my DVD collection and ripping them to my HD with Make MKV. So far so good. I have just been putting the movie name for the title of the film. So far I have about 300 films. I can find all of these in IMDB so they have tt numbers.

After reading the FAQ for moving pictures and the MP forums, it looks like I should be naminging them with the title followed by the IMDB number in parenthesis.

Right now I have 1 folder with all my movies in it.

Question:

Is there an automatic way that I can add the IMDB number to the end of these movies (some application scraper maybe)?

If you could also let me know in newbie speak that would make things a lot better.

It isn't that what you search. but a good tool to let it make automatically was: theRenamer.
when you use it, keep in mind that you can't go back when the movie title goes wrong (i.e. wrong title grab). so make first some test to find out more about the usually functions for you personally.

I was using this for my TV series (adding the title to the end of the file name) and it worked really well, but the movie aspect does not have a way to add the IMDB number to the end of the file. It will add the year of the movie, but not the "tt" number from IMDB. Maybe I am incorrect so if you know that it does it please post back and I will look harder, but from what I could read on their wiki and from going through the options, I could not find a way to attach the "tt" number at the end.

yeah, it's really a comfortable program.
on the download page below are a few interesting comments. read the two first comments.
i understand your question itself. but perhaps this is a solution for you. or you make some '.nfo' files which containing the 'tt' IMDB-number.

but a script or similar, that the number directly writes in the title I can't help you.

You can use this little program to create a .nfo or .txt file containing the imdb # which will get scanned by movingpictures
You will need to manually pick the right movie but then after run this and you won't have to do it again.

In the config just make sure the options "Enable NFO Scanner" and "Auto-Approve on NFO File IMDB Match" are checked in the Movingpictures Configuration.

Right on. I didn't see those comments below. I was looking on the renamer pages. I'll try first with some movies and see if it can move them from a folder into their individual folder with a url file in the folder.

Well just wanted to report that using the renamer per the recommendations below as you had pointed out worked on the test movies. The renamer didn't get all of them, but I had the conformation before proceding set so I could go though and uncheck the movies that it didn't know. Also there is a log incase something get's through that you can check to go back and see what your movie became.

Now I have the movies in individual folders witha url linking to IMDB which for now is fine. It may be better in the long run too.
