I am planning on building a budget media pc for running media portal.

I am going for a low end graphics card and cpu. I am slightly worried that my spec is too low.

The PC will be only used for running Media Portal. I will be using it to mainly watch and record tv, play movies and music.

My TV is a 32inch 50mhz CRT.

The graphics card I am going for is.
GeForce FX5200, 256MB DDR,128bit ,AGP 8X, VGA, DVI, Tv-Out

The CPU I am going for is
AMD Sempron 2800+ 1.6GHz Socket 754, 256KB

The rest of my spec is:
Hard Disk: Samsung SpinPoint P120 250GB IDE ATA/133 8MB 7200RPM
Video Capture: Hauppauge! WinTV-PVR-150MCE, PCI
RAM: TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM 512MB CL2.5 Memory184-P (for DDR-PC400MHz)

What do you guys think?

regards,
Mike.

im on a sempron 2400+ with 512 ram right now and it runs fine. Although I am not using it for tv so I cant comment on that. One thing is, I have a very large music collection and MP is pretty slow when browsing the album art. Not sure if that is the processor or MP tho.

Your setup should be fine tho.
