Hi all,

Im keen to get a Compro Videomate U500 USB tuner to work with MP but im having difficulty.

Ive downloaded & installed the latest MP and all extra required software, got latest tuner drivers off Compro site.

Ive edited the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml to add the card in.
MP Setup detects the card, but says 'cant create graph'

When I run MY TV in MP i get the msg, 'cannot add filter for Videomate U500....'

Ive downloaded latest SVN, which had a Compro U3 entry, which is almost the same as what I have, so edited my config to me similar but still no luck.

Heres my definitions file entry;

<capturecard commercialname="VideoMate U500 Family" capturename="VideoMate U500 Family BDA Digital Capture (Dev1 Path0)" devid="VID_185B&PID_1E80">
<capabilities tv="true" radio="false" mpeg2="true" mce="false" sw="false" bda="true"/>
<tv>
<interface cat="capture" video="2" audio="3" mpeg2="1" sectionsandtables="5"/>
<filters>
<filter cat="networkprovider" name="Microsoft DVBT Network Provider" checkdevice="false"/>
<filter cat="tunerdevice" name="VideoMate U500 Family BDA Digital Tuner (Dev1 Path0)" checkdevice="true"/>
<filter cat="capture" name="VideoMate U500 Family BDA Digital Capture (Dev1 Path0)" checkdevice="true"/>
</filters>
<connections>
<connection sourcefilter="networkprovider" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="tunerdevice" sinkpin="0"/>
<connection sourcefilter="tunerdevice" sourcepin="0" sinkfilter="capture" sinkpin="0"/>
</connections>
</tv>
</capturecard>

The MP Error.log has the following;

2007-06-11 05:44:05.046875 [ERROR][6]: Filter tunerdevice not found in definitions file
2007-06-11 05:44:05.171875 [ERROR][6]: DVBGraphBDA: no moniker found for filter:VideoMate U500 Family BDA Digital Tuner
2007-06-11 05:44:10.093750 [ERROR][6]: Command:MediaPortal.TV.Recording.ViewTvCommand failed reason:Failed to start TV
Cannot add filter VideoMate U500 Family BDA Digital Tuner time:93.75 msec

So I figured it must be the device name, but if I change it in the definitions file, MP Setup doesnt find the card at all anymore, so i think the devid is correct.

Ive attached a screenshot of graphedit for the device and a shot of the device id details from windows device manager.

If anyone could help that would be great, as the MP software looks excellent but I cant get this bit to work.

Thanks
Knacka.

Found it!

After spending hours playing around with all kinds of settings and then posting on the forum,
Another 20 minutes later while staring at graphedit I found that the tuner filter has actually got a single whitespace character on the end of the name.

Should be;
"VideoMate U500 Family BDA Digital Tuner (Dev1 Path0) "

MP picks up the card and works fine now. No errors.

Its all in the detail........

    heheh, that may explain why people have so many headaches with Compro cards and more recent drivers.

    Pity, they are good cards and the company is usually pre4tty good at responding to user problems, but this sill mistake has caused so many bad posts about them on this forum.

    Thanks for posting back with your answers :)

    I should have pointed out that this tip worked for me using a Gigabyte GT-U8000-RH Hybrid USB TV Tuner. :)

    Did you get this working for both DVB-T and analogue?

    And: Does the analogue part make CPU go crazy (I guess this card does not have HW-encoding)

    Hi,
    I was wondering if you could help me as I am new in this. I have the same tv card as you (U8000). You said in an earlier post that you managed to configure the card in MP. Can you tell me how? I played around with capturecarddefinitions.xml without luck. My device id is VID_04F2&PID_0522\6&13E5D30D&0&2. I'd appreciate any help.
    Regards

    you should add in the code that was in the original post, but modify the first line so there is a space between the Path0) and the " so it reads Path0) ".

    I haven't tried this myself (it's not needed for TV engine 3) but from what I read here this should be the solution.

    Welcome to the forums, by the way. You wouldn't be an Australian Kronos that I know from another forum would you?

    Oops, I just noticed you meant the Gigabyte card. Can you find an entry for it in the CCdefs file? If so, then go to that entry and add the space into the same place.

    Thanks Marcusb for the reply and the welcome, glad to be here with y'all.
    Sorry mate I'm not that Ausie Kronos, I'm only a Greek from Athens.
    I did it with the space and without but no luck, I was wondering if I should put another entry here: "VideoMate U500 Family" capturename="VideoMate U500 Family BDA Digital Capture (Dev1 Path0)"?? I will keep trying though.

    Being a total ignoramus in MP fiddling I decided to ask for help here in my efforts to set up my Gigabyte U8000 Hybrid, TV/Radio card (USB). Unfortunately I was unable to make MP “see” my card. My card came with Cyberlink PowerCinema which worked flawlessly with it. I figure I would go the extra step and upgrade to the full version of PowerCinema and see what happens. My intent in this post is neither to promote PowerCinema nor to degrade PowerMedia, so please treat it as plain information for those in similar dire straits. With PowerCinema I was able to set my TV U8000 tuner, both analog and digital, the radio Tuner, news feeds, weather service and time zone, plus video (avis, divx etc) music (mp3, ogg, wma etc) and image handling from within PowerCinema. My MCE remote works “out of the box” with it, i.e. no need for mptray and no loss of focus. Everything works great so far. Perhaps in the future when MediaPortal is more user friendly I will come back to it.
