issue with timeshifting. HD channels show as blank and freeze mp (1 Viewer)

hi there guys
having abit of a wierd problem atm that i cant fix
when i play HD channels sometimes it just displays a blank screen and essentually freezes mediaportal. I can skip back in time to make the pc responsive again but while its on the black screen i cant bring up the guide, info or escape back to another menu. the only solution seems to be skip back in time, change channel, forward to live tv again then try another hd channel. if that hd channel works usually i can then jump back onto the hd channel i wanted in the first place.
this only happens periodically.
ive reinstalled my satellite card
updated all drivers
moved teh timeshift files to a dedicated drive (currently on an ssd with system files)
not sure where to go from here

60gig ssd sata3
gt440 gfx

false alarm! seems its anissue with the power dvd codec. moved it back to the generic windows one and it works fine.
suprisingly i think the generic windows codec seems to work best for my system.
