I'm having some issues getting my HTPC to display on my TV properly. I have a Panasonic CT-27HL15(HDTV). I'm connecting to it via a HDMI to DVI cable and I'm using a Asus A8N-VM CSM motherboard w/ Nvidia 6150 on board video. I can see the desktop on the the TV but I can't get it fill the screen properly. I have tried all the standard reslutions and a variety of custom resolutions, none of which are working. My TV manual says it supports 1080i, 480i and 480p. What resolution should I use?

Do you have some more specific information on it? I googled it and from what the spec's looked like it wasnt HDTV, just a normal NTSC (720x480) tv. It does say HDTV inputs supported but all that means is it resizes it down to its native resolution.

You might want to look into turning on overscan. I have a widescreen running at 848x480(?? whatever i can't remember the resolution right now). Anyway, experiment with overscan with different resolutions. My desktop is a little oversized, but when watching tv or dvd the picture size is perfect. So you might want to keep that in mind.
    Hope that helps.

Just to cut in, and I am trying to not make this a thread jack.

My tv (which is PAL but supports NTSC) looks terrible when I put it into 720x576 (PAL widescreen i believe) the screen goes all fuzzy and the picture jumps and I cannot get it into fullscreen.

However if I crank it right up to something like 1280x960 it fills the screen perfectly BUT I cannot read any text in windows. Once media portal is running though everything is good, no fuzzyness and no screen jumping.

My tv is a philips widescreen (cant remember model) and its is most definetely not HDTV its too old.

So perhaps you need to try higher resolutions to get the output correct, OR I am pushing my tv too hard and am going to regret it :p

Well... I have played w/ it some more and when I use 1080i I get the whole the desktop to display however its in 16:9 (black bar on top and bottom) I tried adjusting the over and under scan but it won't strech anymore vertically. When I use 480i the desktop fills the whole screen but is too large and I'm unable to adjust over/under scan. So.. I looked in the manual some more and its says the HDMI port is not intended for use with computers. Also I saw that when using 1080i the only aspect ratio supported is 16:9. Does this mean to get the piture to fill the screen I'm suck using 480i (non HD resolutions). Would it help any if I switched to compnent connections?
