Dear all,
Since I recently found out about the TV server functionality of mediaportal and because I am a opensource fan, I wanted to transform a defunct laptop (Medion 40100, Pentium4 2,8ghz 512mb, 80gb) to a allways-on TV server.
I accuired a Avermedia E500 analogue tv tuner pcmcia card to record the TV signal. After installing the supplied vendor software and driver, I tested it and it works fine, nice TV image and good performance.
Now i wanted to use it as a server, installed all the required stuff and updates. Only when I wanted to scan the cable channels, Mediaportal reported a error saying i needed a software MPEG2 encoder. So i installed the AMD Media codec, rebooted, same error. Then the Intervideo codec, reboot, same error. I also changed the priority of the encoders putting AMD first. I really want this to work, to be able to send TV signal to other mediaportal clients in-home and record tv on a central location. Also, i feel i am close, the Avermedia e500 is identified correctly.
Log is with this post,
THANKS!!
Xander
