I am currently having two issues with MediaPortal. The first one is that when I put a DVD into play it doesn't play it. It sees the disc but it just won't start playing it.

On one occasion when I got out it seemed to be wanting to use Windows Media Player. I have told the computer to not autoplay the disc.

Can anyone assist with this issue?

The second issue I have gotten is when I tried to play a couple of my movies that I have on my hard drive they where playing upside down. But when I play them on my other computer they are playing the way they should.

I have played other movies of my HDD with no issue so am not sure what the issue is.

The movies are xvid.

Can anyone assist with this issue?

Turns out that it was the region setting. Changed that and all is ok with DVD play back.

Just the upside down issue now.

I have now fixed this issue. Seems for some reason the xvid codecs weren't installed properly. Not it is working 100%

OK, so how do you configure the region? With my new MediaPortal installation, it says "This Disc is not formatted to play in this region." The DVD and the drive are both Region 1, so something must be misconfigured.

Thanks.

the easiest solution is to install DVD43 which removes region codes in windows and is free.
You can also use AnyDVD but this costs.

If you don't want to use "hacks" then just open WMP and select the region using it. Then you can use MP for thatregion from then on.
