Hello
I don't yet have a full htpc, My machine is currently just a machine. Going to turn it into an htpc. (windows 7, mediaportal, freeview)

I am just confused about something
I have the Silverstone LC11m case - So it has some sort of vfd/IR receiver (i have not yet used it)

Reading.. alot, I have discovered:
Imon
IR suite

are these two different things that do the same thing, Or are they both required?

I am going to buy a logitech remote. And i will probably get an HVR-2200. The retailer that sells these only has OEM, so no remote or ir receiver. I hope this does not matter because i can use the silverstones ir reciever.. right?

another point of confusement. Tv tuners,
My options are:
WinTV-HVR 3300 HD
WinTV-HVR-2200
WinTV-HVR-4400

I cant find much about the 3300, does it have a dual tuner?
I will only be getting freeview UHF HD signals, No Analouge or satellite

Thanks for helping me clear my brain.

    Hi starlyte

    Welcome to the forum! :)

I am just confused about something
I have the Silverstone LC11m case - So it has some sort of vfd/IR receiver (i have not yet used it)

    Reading.. alot, I have discovered:
    Imon
    IR suite

are these two different things that do the same thing, Or are they both required?
As I understand it, Imon would be for displaying stuff on the VFD. IRSS is for handling IR remotes - more generally, for controlling other devices (eg. receivers, TVs...) with various interfaces including IR, COM, USB.

I am going to buy a logitech remote. And i will probably get an HVR-2200. The retailer that sells these only has OEM, so no remote or ir receiver. I hope this does not matter because i can use the silverstones ir reciever.. right?
You'll have to check whether IRSS supports the Silverstone receiver. I'd also recommend that you check whether Imon supports the Silverstone display...

I cant find much about the 3300, does it have a dual tuner?
No, my understanding is that it has a single "hybrid" tuner that can do satellite *or* analog *or* DVB-T (Freeview UHF). Only one mode at a time.

I will only be getting freeview UHF HD signals, No Analouge or satellite
If you're only going for Freeview UHF then I *highly* recommend that you get a dual DVB-T tuner such as the HVR 2200. Do keep in mind that there are plenty of other options on TradeMe, especially USB dual tuners. Some of the products on TradeMe may have questionable quality, but they're possibly significantly cheaper...

    Best regards,
    mm

    Thank you!
    Someone from NZ even :)

So far, the internet has told me that the silverstone supports the imon. I was certain that is what was used for IR....
Other than IRSS, what else is available for IR?
I cant be 100% sure if the silverstone supports IRSS, If i find it doesnt, I could just buy an mce ir reciever..

Dual dvb-t - thank you, I know what to look/ask for

The silverstone case is discontinued now, So getting information about it is harder!

    No problem. :D

My own HTPC is quite simple and doubles as a regular PC for development, internet, word processing, gaming etc. I don't have a fancy case with its own display, so I'm not the best person to advise you about iMon. As I said though, my understanding is that it is used for case minidisplays.

MP supports various remotes "out-of-the-box". For example, MCE, Hauppauge, X11 to name a few. You might want to take a look through our wiki starting from -->here<--.

Absolutely! Lots of people use MCE remotes. :)
Various flavours of MCE remotes are supported without the need for plugins or complicated setups.

Hi I have a LC16 case I think that's what its called It has the Imon display with IR. I use a harmony 300 remote with mine works well enough. But Imon and their software can make things fun, just check out their forums.

Also BIG thanks too mm1352000 I have seen this guy answer questions and help people all day, More needed like him.
