I am using MP 1.0 on XP SP3, StreamedMP skin, Moving Pictures and My TV Series plugins.

    1. Although I can see my TV Series in the Details tab of the plugin configuration. Nothing shows up on MP.

    2. Even though I've configured the folder paths for Videos, Pictures, Music, etc., when I go to those menu items on MP, local drives still show up. How do I get rid of those? I've deleted them but they still keep showing up.

    3. I installed the MCE remote drivers from here: MEDIAPORTAL - free media center - MCE Remote Replacement Driver but get no response from my remote. I've tried using my MCE remote as well as a Harmony 880.

    4. Since the remote is not working, I try using keyboard shortcuts but that doesn't always work either. I highlight a movie, then press P, the screens flashes for a split second and nothing happens. I'm back on the same movie page. Shouldn't it have played using the internal player?

    5. MP crashes if I'm going quickly between menu items. On my keyboard, if I hit up/down arrows and Esc real fast, it happens.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Wont be possible until 1.0.1 -> 0001884: Configuration should remember the removal of optical disk drives - MediaPortal Bugtracker

Please upload logs and system specs so we can make some guesses whats happening :) I cannot remember anyone else reporting such crash.

Does that crash also happen with defailt B3 / B3W skins?

    1. did you enable the tv series plugin (right click on it), it can be also be listed in home or in the plugins menu
    2. answered by tourettes
    3. Again has the remote been configured in the remotes part of config
    4. sounds like a codec problem, what codecs have you got setup on machine and setup in Config
    5. answered by tourettes

It was enabled but playing around with the config options and it's showing up now.

Understood - will be in next release.

    3. I installed the MCE remote drivers from here: MEDIAPORTAL - free media center - MCE Remote Replacement Driver but get no response from my remote. I've tried using my MCE remote as well as a Harmony 880.

Still not working, not sure what to try. I double checked - in MP config, Remote menu, I have Use Microsoft MCE Remote checked.

    4. Since the remote is not working, I try using keyboard shortcuts but that doesn't always work either. I highlight a movie, then press P, the screens flashes for a split second and nothing happens. I'm back on the same movie page. Shouldn't it have played using the internal player?

I've attached log file, not sure how to interpret the error. For Video Player config - I have MPEG2 - ffdshow video decoder; H.264 - MPC video decoder; Audio decoder - AC3Filter; Audio renderer - Default DirectSound Device. I've also tried using VLC as an external player, same result.

    5. MP crashes if I'm going quickly between menu items. On my keyboard, if I hit up/down arrows and Esc real fast, it happens.

Log file attached - it did crash again while navigating menus.

Cannot get it to crash with B3W skin.

VLC standalone plays fine. I am now able to play videos with MP using external VLC but don't know how to quit VLC and get back into MP without using the keyboard to close the VLC app.

Also cannot play movies stored as VOBs in individual folders using VLC within MP, error message:

    Playback failure:
DVDRead could not open the disk "Z:\Videos\Cloverfield\CLOVERFIELD_DOM\VIDEO_TS\V".
    Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd://Z:\Videos\Cloverfield\CLOVERFIELD_DOM\VIDEO_TS\V'. Check the log for details.

I've tried both passing %filename% paramater and without and same error message. Is it possible that the filename is too long - Z:\Videos\Cloverfield\CLOVERFIELD_DOM\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO ?

    Remote still doesn't work.

still sounds like codec issues for playback, try downloading trial version of cyberlink powerdvd (you can still use the codec afyter the trial has finished just dont unistall) then change the codec in the movies config to use the new cyberlink one, also use the inbuilt Movie player instead of VLC

codecs are the biggest frustration in getting MP to play everything

on the crashing, i would post the problem you are having in the streamedMP skin forum as its seems the problem with crashing lies with the StreamedMP skin and not MP as the default ones work fine

the remote, hmm. i just plugged my MCE remote into usb and selected it in config/remote in mp and it worked perfectly

aidbish - thank you for your help.

It took 2 things to fix the video - installing new ATI Catalyst drivers and using PDVD.

No on to trying to fix ghe remote issues.
