Summary:
Keyboard Shortcut for Standby/Hibernate.

Area:
General

Description:
At the moment there is no keyboard shortcut available to go into standby or hibernate.
This is a problem for users which use remote controls, e.g. iMon, which use keyboard shortcuts to control MediaPortal.
There have been discussed some workarounds in the Forum but none of them which i have read are a good working solution.
Maybe an other option could be to make standby or hibernate available under "Keys and Sounds" (e.g. like ACTION_STANDBY, ACTION_HIBERNATE).
I know, that it is possible to navigate to the homescreen and then select standby or hibernate in the shutdown menu
but for a one-click system off this is not practicable.

:D ...in advance!

I really miss this, too. Especially if one knows, that Powerscheduler only works without problems (=wakes up for recordings) if hibernate is called from MP menu (or by Powerscheduler). A shortcut would make things much easier. We could send the PC to hibernate via remote AND Powerscheduler would work as expected.

...is there a chance to get something like this with MediaPortal 1.1.0 or do the Dev's think this is general useless?

Now i use the macro funktion from iMon. I have defined a new key "q" with action "Action_shutdown" so the dialog appears in every menu of mediaportral. Then define a macro in iMon "q<200msdelay>4" witch send the command for hibernate. You can only see a short period the shutdown dialog flashing, then MP go to hibernate.

I support this request. I am using a Harmony remote simulating my iMon remote that came with the LC-20 cabinet. I use the Harmony to switch on both TV, HTPC and amplifier. I also have a macro to switch everything off again.

The problem with this that the iMon standby function does not communicate with Powerscheduler in any way, so switching off the system with the remote will break scheduled recording. If I let Powerscheduler switch off the system, it will not switch off the TV and the Amplifier, so the next time I will switch it on, my "HTPC Activity" on the Harmony will fail (i.e switch on the HTPC but switch off the TV and amp).

If I could have the Harmony switch off the HTPC using a Keyboard Shortcut in Home Screen, I would be able to get a system running which can be switched on and off with good WAF, but which would also wake up for scheduled recordings.

You could write a macro for the remote that sends MP GUI to the home screen and the stops the media playback (by sending 'b'). Then just enable the PS option to allow PC to go to sleep when MP is idle in home screen.

I support also this request because it could be a great way to have these function (hibernate and suspend) directly by shortcut key.

I'm using a small remote control with few button (and no way to program macro), but there's a "power button" that I can connect to the right shortcut key. Actually, I've got to back on the home menu then power menu, ... so manually! ;-)

Is it a big work to make available this function by shortcut key? Or is there an alternate way to solve my case?

I want this function, too! At the moment i use a Macro to go into standby, but sometimes it doesn't work, so I have to control each time whether the pc is really off or not.
