Hi im having problems scaning channels just says no signal
ive spent days reading on differnt forums and checking settings and unistalling , reinstalling software
im on windows 7
card drivers up to date
have checked all lnb setting ect ect
my card is showing as a digigo card not kworld in mp tv server, and cant get this to change !
i think my problem lies here as the kworld dvb-s require you to send power to LNB
works on other software where you have option to turn on manualy
from what ive read mp does this automatic for card`s that need it and there is no manual setting
will post logs if realy needed but im sure the problem lies here
it seems alot of people have this problem with this card on windows media centre too as power not being sent to card and no option

Any help please its driving me mad !!!

:D

    Hi there and welcome :)

will post logs if realy needed
To be honest, you should really post those logs without the need for a dev to ask for them. That way you will not only save them some time but also yourself.

    Hi and welcome gordy76 :)

You're right: power must be supplied to the LNB for channels to be found. There is no explicit support for this setting in TV Server because most tuners just supply the power automatically. If Kworld tuners don't turn on the power automatically then your tuner would not work in TV Server right now. The best thing to do would be to:

    1. Post logs so that I can check that there are no other problems (open TV Server configuration, click "open log directory" in the top left hand corner, zip up all the files you find there and post them here).
    2. Contact Kworld support and ask them to provide us with a copy of their SDK (software development kit). The SDK would tell us how to write the code that turns the power on for Kworld their products. I'd be happy to work with you and Kworld to add support for your tuner if they can supply us with the information. Sometimes manufacturers are reluctant to give out this information to the general public so I can supply you with my email address if they would prefer to communicate with me directly.

I should say that the "digigo" thing does make it sound like you might have the wrong drivers installed - the name shown in TV Server configuration comes straight from the tuner driver. Might pay to uninstall and reinstall them. The other thing you can do if you're using W7 or Vista is try using the DVBS network provider instead of the generic one. Refer to the "preferred network provider" setting details -->here<--.

I am having same issues with a kworld DVB-S card. I found this thread following a post by porky996t. Please see my post below:

'I am trying to setup a kworld dvb-s 100 pci card to receive freesat in uk.
If I use bundled 'hypermedia'(!) software then i can scan and receive stations.
I am unable to get any results when scanning in MP. The device is shown in MP as DigiGo DVBS BDA Tuner/Demod, but in win7 device manager it displays two conexant devices (2388x AVS Video Capture (DVB-S) & 2388x Device).
Is this card not compatible with MP or is it a question of finding correct driver?
I have done loads of hunting for solution, but I cannot find any resolution. Borrowed good sat meter, & signal at PC is good. Also I can watch freesat via bundled software. So it seems to be how it integrates with MP.
As a noob to DVB-S any help appreciated. :)

Edit: i have downloaded and installed what are descibed as BDA drivers from kworld site (V6.0.1020.4).
Under driver details it shows BdaSup.sys file, so I suspect this is correct driver.
Could someone point me in the right direction to allow MP to recognize this driver? With thanks'

Update: Have ordered DVB-S2 card listed in compatible hardware, but would still like to get this card working if possible.

I have submitted request to kworld support re SDK but am unsure of how responsive they will be!

Is there any way of substituting a different profile for the card in MP config? Excuse me if this is too simplistic a question, I'm new to this field so I don't know exactlty what is involved.

    Hi Andy

Apologies that nobody responded. If the tuner(s) are listed in TV Server configuration then BDA drivers are installed, and the tuner should work. If it doesn't work then as I said to gordy76, *we need logs*. An SDK from kworld would be nice, but to be quite frank basic tuning shouldn't require an SDK - SDKs usually only provide instructions for implementing support for features which aren't supported by BDA (like DiSEqC, CAM/CI control, and IR remote stuff).

    Hi mm

Thank you for the reply and don't worry that nobody has responded. I substituted the Kworld card for a TBS 8920 DVB-S2 and all has been fairly stable since then. Am hoping to install Kworld card in bedroom pc but first I need to get satellite cable to it, so it may be some time before I get chance to follow up research!

Have recently upgraded to MP 1.2.3 and the TV side seems greatly improved, so will be intresting to see what results I get with Kworld and 1.2.3.

I have a question and would appreciate your guidance on best course of action (am still noob to MP and forum etiquette).

I have three tv cards in system. A Kworld Dual DVB-T USB stick, a TBS 6280 Dual DVB-T2 PCI card and a TBS 8920 DVB-S2 PCIe card.

As I'm still discovering all features in MP, my most recent research has been regarding EPG guide info. After upgrading to 1.2.3 and following guide in forum for UK EPG, I'm able to get all EPG for DVB-T/S SD and HD channels perfectly. A big thank you to all involved.

I now seem to have problem with DVB-S2 card when using EPG grabbing. With 1.2.2 I had to set both DVB-T cards to *Allow this card to be preloaded* to get DVB-S2 card to work reliably (all cards set to Stop when idle). If I didn't have this option checked then I would receive *no signal* message when returning from DVB-T to DVB-S card.
After upgrade to 1.2.3 I now have to have *Allow this card to be preloaded* checked for DVB-S2 card as well (all cards set to Stop when idle). If i don't, MP freezes when trying to use DVB-S2 card. Have to restart pc to restart tv service. Cannot find anything in logs that points to problem. Last entry before restart is that card is acquiring channel with correct tuning details.
I have two cards set for EPG grabbing. The Kworld to grab Freeview EPG and the TBS8920 too grab Freesat info. If grabbing is set to *grab when timeshifting" all seems ok, but I have to watch sat channel to get EPG. If set to *grab when idle*, the initial grab works ok, but after a period of time (am trying to figure how long) the DVB-S2 card locks up and I have to restart pc to get it working again.7
When using *grab when idle* on DVB-S2 card with 1.2.2 I didn't have this problem. Any guidance on best way to troubleshoot this problem would be greatly appreciated. Not sure if I need to start new thread asking this question? I'll get debug logs with *grab when idle* enabled and *grab when timeshifting* enabled if you could tell me best place to post?

Sorry for long reply. Your message arrived right in middle of me trying to solve this puzzle!

I'm loving MP. It's picture/sound quality is superb..just wish there were more hours in day to discover all the functions! Being used to dealing with Sky or Virgin STBs I hadn't realized how much is involved and how many differences there are in freeview/freesat,hd/sd OTA broadcasts. Keep up the brilliant work.

    Andy

    Hi felixbbb031

I struggle to see anything obviously wrong in your logs... only that signal is not found. Have you tried using the DVB-S network provider as I suggested to gordy76?
I can see from the logs that the tuner supports some Conexant BDA extensions. Given what gordy76 said about LNB power I'm wondering whether it is possible that one of those extensions must be used to enable the power. The problem would be that we don't have any documentation...

    Hello again

I contacted KWorld on 18 June; today I received a reply. They said that the tuner should work in MediaPortal as long as MP uses DirectShow... which it does. I have replied and given them specific information describing how TV Server tunes. Hopefully they are able to identify what the issue is...

    Hello again

I received a second reply from KWorld today. They have said that my questions need to be forwarded to their research and development department, and that there will be a charge associated with this. Obviously as an open source project we need to manage the money that we get from donations carefully.

If one of you still has one of these tuners and wants help, please let me know ASAP. Otherwise it is possible that we will not proceed with the support request.
