I started my HTPC experience a few years back with XBMC & Xbox 1, but when that went up in smoke, I migrated to Vista & MCE. I really didn't like MCE because it just wasn't designed for people like me who like to watch downloaded content (I live in Asia so don't get the shows here, my family records to AVI, compresses them and sends them to me once every few months). Anyhow, my TV is in the living room and my computer is in my study. The connection is a 85mbps PowerLine connection, which works perfectly fine. Under Vista MCE I could play all kinds of content without problems of stuttering. MediaPortal however seems to have a problem loading the files over the network. It seems to need a few seconds to load the video, and while I can hear the audio instantly, the video doesn't come on for a few seconds, sometimes up to 10s. By that time the initial portion of the video is already played. For reference, if I play the files locally there's no problem and the video displays instantly. Is there someway that MP can delay output of the video until it has read the file sufficiently for smooth video play back? I guess what I'm asking for is an option to set a buffer of some sort. I believe WMP & MCE do this automatically, but I can't find the option in MP. Any help would be appreciated. I really love this software. It just works... [/QUOTE]
