Hi.

Some not Mediaportal info, but usefull as well

The latest mkv i've found (some of them, not all) are being coded using the x264 core 79 with the "weighted P-frame prediction" feature. Maybe everybody knows it, but anyway, the coreavc doesn't work fine with that. Use the latest libavcodec (former ffdshow) to play them instead.

I have random artifacts all over the screen when using coreavc. It seems the 2.0 version of it will work, but until then... the libavcodec works for me.

You beautiful, beautiful bastard. This problem has recently cropped up for me seemingly out of nowhere, and I've been absolutely killing myself over it. I probably never would have figured it out if I hadn't stumbled over this post. You have truly helped me, I would shake your hand if I could.

Just a question.. How can I configure Mediaportal to use ffdshow/libavcodec instead of CORE AVC?

I'd try to set "fddshow Video Decoder" as H.264 video decoder but the artifacts are still thear. Then I de-registered "CORE AVC" and set "fddshow" as video decoder again, but in this case I had no video at all.

I suppose there is shomething I'm doing wrong or I'm missing to do.

It's me again. Sorry... my mistake, I had a problmen with my ffdshow configuration... now it is working right with ffdshow video decoder.. Thanks a lot.
