Some not Mediaportal info, but usefull as well
The latest mkv i've found (some of them, not all) are being coded using the x264 core 79 with the "weighted P-frame prediction" feature. Maybe everybody knows it, but anyway, the coreavc doesn't work fine with that. Use the latest libavcodec (former ffdshow) to play them instead.
I have random artifacts all over the screen when using coreavc. It seems the 2.0 version of it will work, but until then... the libavcodec works for me.
