I just installed MediaPortal for the first time.  I was using MythTV, but I got tired of wrestling with Linux.  I must say the the MP UI is very nice and has a lot more features than what MythTV offers. 

Is there a way to launch an external program like Firefox from the MP menu?  With MythTV, I could edit an XML file and add my own menu items to launch other applications.  I currently run MP in fullscreen mode and I would like to be able to launch Firefox from the menu rather than having to exit MP.
