Hey all, I can't seem to get around this issue.

Every time I build my database it is adding in the "various artists" from my compilation albums. I do NOT have the "scan for various artists in albums" or whatever that tick box is in the settings.

I just want my database to build exactly as my folder hierarchy is setup and to use those names..
/artists/albums/tracks

I would also like it to pick up the folder.jpg in my artist folder as my artist image. It only sees the album folder.jpg and ignores the one in the artist folder.

Is this possible??

Thanks!

If you want the database set up exactly as your folder structure, I'd recommend using the Shares view. That way, you'll see your artists, albums and songs as folders. You can still scan the songs for your database to use with audioscrobbler functions and such, but if you want the songs to show up as you arranged your folder, you might as well use the Shares view.

Thanks for the reply. Yea, I seem to have stumbled upon doing it by shares as being the best setup myself. It does have it's limitations though.

Question for you (or anyone) though...
Is it possible to set the default view types for the shares view, the way I can with Artists or Albums? IE: ArtistFolder=BigIcons, AlbumFolder=BigIcons, Tracks=List

As of now the shares folders seem to retain their setting on an individual basis. A cool feature I guess, but defeats the setup I am after. :(

Thanks

I usually set the view type in each folder as I enter it, but it's a tedious task.

Indeed it is.

Hmm, I wonder if the view settings for the "Shares" folders are stored in the DB? Could just select them all and manually edit the field in one shot if so.
