Legal graphics/icons for skin (1 Viewer)

Hi everybody!
I'm working on my SimpleMP skin and are going to make a lot of change to the Beta 2 release. Therefore I need to update the icons and hoover images for the release.

Does anyone know the exact rules for publishing downloaded "free icons" within a skin. Is that ok? Does the icons need to be released with any specific licence like GNU to match MP's licence?

Does anyone have links to well-looking icon sites?

If you use 3rd party images, they have to be free for use & for distribution. Otherwise you're violating the designer's copyright.
