Less rows in EPG to allow bigger fonts (1 Viewer)

Hi all,
I'm using MP on a wide-screen TV in my living room. Watching TV is great, but reading EPF (and news etc) is difficult from the distance.


So far I tried all 16:9 skins, but all of them seem to be opimized for resultion of 1280x12024, while my TV will not support more the 848x480. In general this is still acceptable as TV is bright and clear and also I'm in negotioation to get the TV replace. This will take time and therefore, I'd like to have a work-around for at least the EPG.

Can I reduce the number of channels displayed on one page of the EPF and increase the font-size without needing to learn the art of skinning?

Any help is highly appreciated.

If you do a search around, some people have been doing this for a while. Especially in Australia where we don't even have enough FTA channels to fill the 7 rows (unless you double count for HD channels).

mce1280x720 uses an installer that gives you the choice between 6, 8, 10 12 and 15 lines.

Sound great, but where do I find the "installer". Today I installed the latetest MP version and found many more setting than in the version I had. However, I did not find the setting you write about. Neither in der config program, not in the setting dialog inside MP nor inside the EPG.

What did I miss?

It is a separate skin download that is not included in the MediaPortal download. There is a huge thread about it in the Skin forum that should point you towards a download, I dare say it is probably in the download section of the MediaPortal site as well.

Hi,
I think I found a bug in the set-up. When I select 6 lines in EPF, the summary screen does no show any number and the result is 16 or so. I tried to go back to the selection several times, playing with the check boxes. There are some funny effects here. You can select multiple of the check boxes or non. I think it should be true radio buttons.

Large fonts seems to work ok.

If I should sumit this somewhere, please tell me and I'm happy to do. (newby alert)

the installer script had a variable missing a $. Only caused a problem when selecting 6 lines in the epg. Not too many people use this skin anymore, and i didn't get a chance to test every combination of choices. Should also not allow multiple selections at the same time in that tree. I use a tree instead of radio boxes to keep the number of setup screens to a minimum. Download the installer again and give it a try, it worked for me after the change.
