I have successfully setup a Linksys NSLU2 with a Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 and am able to rercord and stream TV in MPEG2 format. A howto can be found http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Debian/InstallWinTVPVRUSB2
I'd like to use this setup in MediaPortal and plan to develop a "remote tv tuner" plugin for this aproach.
I also plan to add a couple of other USB devices to the NSLU2 and connect them with my MediaPortal server in the basement:
- Cinergy DVB-T receiver
- IR transreceiver and keyboard for remote control
- LCD display and speakers for audio streaming
