Live TV stutter occasionally (1 Viewer)

I've MP setup with 4therecord for watching live tv. Occasionally I experience some stutter. The image and sounf freezes for an instance of second and then the tv continues playing first with heavy artifacts around the parts of the picture with movement in them. Until the picture is fully restored.

I'm not sure this is a codec related problem but I figure this is as good a place to start as any other.

My question: what can I do to analyze this phenomenon? Are there any tools, metrics that can be used? How would you tackle this kind of trouble?

Hello catchup,

This can be anything from bad sat signal, hardware defects (e.g. TV tuner not working correctly) to windows tasks or virus scanners interfering with TV Service. It is impossible to tell without further information and I would suggest that you post full logs first.

In parallel you may want check the Windows task scheduler for tasks you don't need and deactivate those. Also verify that your virus scanner is not kicking in when writing timeshift files (exclude the respective directories).

I had installed saf but had not enabled hardware acceleration... things run a lot smoother now. Thanks anyway.
