Hi All,

I have spent several days attempting to get MP to work on my system.

OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600
System Name CHESSMASTER
System Manufacturer Dell Inc.
System Model OptiPlex GX280
System Type X86-based PC
Processor x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 1 GenuineIntel ~2792 Mhz
BIOS Version/Date Dell Inc. A08, 3/3/2006
SMBIOS Version 2.3
Locale United States
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.5574 (xpsp_sp3_qfe.080402-1256)"
Total Physical Memory 2,048.00 MB
Available Physical Memory 900.62 MB

Hardware configuration:
Video card: ATI Radeon 4550
HDTV card: ATI HDTV WONDER
Audio card: Creative Audigy 2
MotherBoard video and audio are disabled.
Each has the latest available driver.

3rd party software:
k-lite codec pack
vlc player
All recommended software provided by the MediaPortal installation routine.

Video Decoder: ffdshow

Error Messages:
I attempt two methods at starting the TV:
Method 1:
I simply launch the TV on button in the TV section. That returns the following message:

Cannot connect to live2-0.ts.tsbuffer

I notice a couple of things about this, 1. The tv launch routine does not wait long enough for the file to show up, as I observe in a separate console window. 2. I have set the wait time for this file to 30 seconds in the configuration timeshifting menu.

Method 2:

In tv-server configuration under manual control I launch timeshifting. This creates the following files over time,
live2-0.ts.tsbuffer1
live2-0.ts.tsbuffer2
live2-0.ts.tsbuffer3 ...
I then proceed to MediaPortal under the TV tab and proceed to start live tv using (TV on) correction using TV-Streams. This has yet to result in viewing live tv. The errors returned are not what you might think, a possible bug I think, they are as follows
Cannot connect to
live2-1.ts.tsbuffer
live2-2.ts.tsbuffer
live2-3.ts.tsbuffer ...
note the difference in which number is incrementing. The increment above takes place as often as I hit the (TV on) TV-Streams button, even if only live2-0.ts.tsbuffer1 is in existence. Also, note that I am able to connect to live2-0.ts.tsbuffer1 via VLC player using rtsp protocol, as is used in MP.

I have already sent log files of this to you I will make a new copy if necessary to attach to this message.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to fix this?

Dwayne

Only 2 things I can think of

1st is Firewall, make sure tvservice and mediaportal.exe's are in the allow list.

2nd Network not configured correctly or unavailable, is your internet connection hard wired or wireless.

Always better to use an ip address, rather than localhost in any connection, if running singleseat with only the one pc, I use the MSloopback adapter, which settings will give you an idea of what I mean by ip address.
