Hi, I have been having huge problems with tv server and my gigabyte u7000 usb dvb-t tuner. First, when I configured the tv server, scanned channels etc. when I played live tv, after some time the picture would freeze, sound would go on, media portal is unresponsive..
Another symptom: after switching to hdtv channel and back to sd, sd has no picture. This was all with mpv codec for mpeg2, audio made no difference.
Then I tried with cyberlink codec and after a second mediaportal would hang!!
After switching to evr, everything played fine on win xp sp3 but the tearing due to nonexisting vertical sync was visible and not acceptable. After some digging in forums, i enabled vertical sync so that it is always on (ati control panel, under 3d!) and voila, everything is just perfect!!!
No tearing, no crashes under vmr9, smooth sd and hdtv channels, just perfect. timeshift works, recordings work, I'm happy...
But, before all this I had to edit the device info and add the blank space so the mediaportal would recognise the card and not report that it couldnt build graph for the device as found on forums here (you really should fix this by now). And dvbt fix for xp too.
Just so it's here if someone has similar problems and does the forum search. :D guys for excellent product!

Any particular model ATI graphics chip is above referring too, also which driver installed would help someone else maybe:)

    Thanks for sharing

no problem, it is radeon 3200hd embedded on gigabyte MA78GM-S2H, sAM2. Drivers are latest catalyst 8.9. My htpc is connected to a panasonic 42" full hd plasma via hmdi cable. On vista I had problems with sound dissapearing trough hdmi when switching tv input to something else and back, so I downgraded to xp and is working now, I'm not sure if it is the new ati drivers though...

hm, i was happy too soon. the same problems are back now :(
after reboot, when I start tv, picture shows for a second and everything freezes, audio goes on
when i switch to evr (on win xp) then everything works just fine but vsync tearing is visible, when I switch back to vmr9, everything works fine until next reboot...
any ideas?? I am using cyberlink powerdvd 8 codecs. with mpv codec video plays longer after reboot but still hangs after a few minutes.. maybe I should disable video acceleration under pdvd8 codec options and see what happens?

On Vista make sure that Aero is enabled, as its the only way to quarantine tear free picture with EVR. (Exclusive mode is another, but it is not possible to use it with EVR on purpose as it has its own limitations).

I am on xp sp3.. downgraded from Vista because I had ongoing problems with hdmi audio stopping to work.. Should I upgrade once more?

UPDATE: When I deselected use hardware acceleration in pdvd8 settings in mediaportal configuration utility, everything works. But, if I set h-264 decoder to coreavc, and use pdvd8 for sd, switching from hd to sd channel results in no picture. Solved by setting sd decoder to MPV - nicer picture (better deinterlace?) than pdvd8 codes... Any info how to get best deinterlace and with what codecs? Thanks..
    Anyway, problem remains solved :)
