If I click on a file in MediaPortal via MovingPictures, it takes 26 seconds to load. If I open the same file up in Windows Media Player, it takes about 1 second to open. Something is clearly busted.

File details:
HD 720p
H.264
DD 5.1

Any idea whats going on? :D

UPDATE: I managed to take FFDShow out of the picture. The load times are however still crazy. It has something to do with the 5.1 sound. Any ideas guys?

Bump! Does anyone know why it takes 26 seconds to load a 1GB avi with HD 720p, H.264 and DD 5.1?? I have a high end PC, dual core OC'ed to 3.3Ghz, ATI 5770 etc, so its not my system. It seems like it takes 2 seconds to load a avi without DD sound, and nearly 30 seconds to load one with it. I tried AC3 filter for the decoding but it was even slower.

SOS! Thanks,

It might be the Haali splitter causing the problem - try disabling 'Explorer integration' and 'Try to open linked files' options in the Haali splitter settings.

There's also a more recent version (beta?) of Haali here - http://haali.net/mkv/mkx.y.9.exe

Hey man - thanks for the response. I dont seem to have those options in my Haali but I should probably go ahead and get the beta version then. A question though before I do (cause everything is working nearly perfect, dont wanna mess it up).

If the files load instantly in Windows Explorer using WMP, could Haali still be the problem when having really bad wait times in MediaPortal? It seems like its MediaPortal not Haali as the files work fine with other apps (unless this is a known issue).

    Please advise. Thanks man!

I don't know if it will help, but if this is MP 1.0.2 you could try updating the mediainfo.dll to a later version (MP uses this to get info on the file before playing it) - get it from MediaInfo - Download

As for logs, see the link in my sig below...

Hey man thank you for responding. I really appreciate it. I'm using 1.0.4.2.

I also managed to generate a log file. While file are you looking for in particular? There is a lot of info in these files so I dont want to post everything. I tried to load a 1080p file and it took about 1.5min in the default MP player. If I open that exact same file with WMP, then it takes about 2-3 seconds. I just dont get it :(

Anyway, please let me know what file you need and I will post. Thanks man!:D
