Has anyone successfully set up a Harmony Remote with MP? My customer has a Harmony 1000 with the USB adapter so it can be controlled from anywhere. He only is using it right now for his HT A/V equipment. He has HP MS Media Center PC BUT no remote with it. Are we just better off buying an MCE remote for it with an IR receiver OR better ideas than that? Or is there another way we could set up the Harmony to work with? The Harmony 1000 has built in RF.

thx

you can try setting up the harmony as a regular MCE remote. I have it working perfectly here, in combination with the IR receiver from MS. But I guess any receiver will do.
good luck

I use the Harmony One as a MCE remote with an MS-Receiver and it works perfect!

    Hi there,

I'm using a Harmony 525 with a MS compatible receiver (bought cheap off *bat) - works really well.

Thanks to ALL who responded! I kinda thought u could just set it up as an MCE remote SO my next big question is can I get away with just buying an IR receiver only for it OR buy the whole MCE remote deal? I know one reply said a cheap compatible one. IF SO -where could I get one of those? Assuming Ebay but can someone give me any links?

Your choices are different depending on which operating system he's using. For XP you need a MCE 2005 receiver which are hard to find anywhere other than Ebay.. If it's Vista/Win7 then the newer Vista only receivers will work. I've got a Vista Only Anyware MCE remote from Newegg working in XP but it takes a bit of work. Since you're doing it for someone else you should keep it simple and use the proper remote receiver. I'm finding more and more remotes are including MCE support. I was looking at my Directv RC64 remote yesterday and noticed it has MCE available on AV1 or AV2. There are other choices for receivers but they may require that codes be learned in the Harmony rather than just selecting MCE remote. I have tried the StreamZap (limited buttons), The Hauppauge PVR150 Remote, ATI Remote Wonder and a few others but find the MCE ehome works the best.
