I use a remote control with mediaportal.
the list all movies is getting a bit long because i have 400 plus movies.
If i want to scroll to the negotiator, it takes a long time to scroll to that movie.
Are there different slolutions.
Is it possible to first scroll to a,b,c,d,e,f, ect.ect.?

Any tips are welcome

With SMS-style filtering you can either directly jump to a movie in question, such as 2+2+7+4+6+6 to get all the movies containing the word 'Casino' (and other letter combinations), which while you type usually will show "Casino Royale" very quick (if you have it). Once you filtered it down to a movie that is highlighted and hit escape, the full list is shown with the highlight still active.

With the SMS system enabled you can also go 0+Letter to jump to that one, so you can go 0+8 to directly jump to start of 'T'.

You can also create A-Z custom categories.

Don't forget Page Up/Down allow very quick navigation as well.

Remote (SMS) Filtering sounds complex but it is pretty simple once you get the hang of it. There is some documentation on how to use it on the wiki.

Additionally the latest release includes search. This doesn't let you jump to a letter in the alphabet but if you are looking for "The Negotiator" it could be very useful. This is accessible via the context menu (not sure what you have it mapped to but this is F9 on the keyboard).

Page Up and Page Down functionality is in place. Check your remote control mapping. I have these keys mapped to my Harmony One.

Finally we are considering adding a dynamic A-Z category.

I'm all for a dynamic A to Z category. I have 1214 movies now. Even page up/down takes too long. It should be in the main menu with ALL movies, genre, etc. Then when you click it you get a qwerty keyboard. Then a single click will take you to everything starting with whatever you click.

The SMS search helps. Really I shouldn't be griping considering the alternative which used to be a matter of looking through a thousand DVDs to decide what I wanted, then putting it in the DVD player, then having to return it to the proper alphabetical spot when I'm done!
