Hi everyone! First time poster long time reader. I have been reading the posts here for a long time and seem to be having some problems with some questions, maybe possible, maybe not, but I am hoping some vets would know and possibly be able to help me, maybe with links to how to's or something. I will number these for easy replies for everyone.

1. TV Tuner - I had this set up, but I had to do another install. but if I am not mistaken, the sql database that MP sets up is username: sa password: mediaportal by default right? Second, is it required to run an sql server if you are using the mp software on the same pc and not as a streaming server?

2. Remote - I have that HP Media Center Remote, with the eHome Tranceiver usb device. It hooks up all fine and dandy in Win7 and Vista. However XP x64 its a pita to find the drivers that work correctly. Can anyone link to the 64 bit drivers for the usb ir for this? Second, I can use either that remote or a logitech harmony 550, which I will probably use, does MP have native support for this? Or will I need external software?

3. Blu Ray - I know you can convert hd blu ray disks and content to mp4, mkv ect files. What I would like to know is there integrated blu ray disk support, to play directly from a disk, inside media portal? Or is there external programs that integrate into mediaportal (full screen)?

I prefer to run XP x64 as it runs awesome fast, windows 7 is fast, just sluggy sometimes. So any links to the above questions would help, thanks guys!

Hi coragin,

1. You are right about the password. These days, when you install MP you don't have to enter the password anymore, it's automatic. Not sure when that changed. 1.1.0 beta?

2. ?

3. You need to use those expensive blu-ray softwares sucha s powerdvd or Total Media Theatre. I use TMT 3 and it integrates into MP using the arcsoft plugin found in the plugin section. I think some people have had success with MPC-HC for blu-ray but that is only to play the main movie, no menus etc.

If I recall correctly the password is case sensitive MediaPortal.

The SQL server is an integrated requirement of the TV Server - does not matter if it is same PC (singleseat) or not.

Thanks for the replies guys you guys rock! And from searching (a ton of searching) and reading I found that intelliremote sucks! It kept telling me there was no usb ir or remote at all! But on this site I found the program to fix all problems!

IR Server Suite by Aaron! Thank you so much for this WONDERFUL piece of program! I can now keep my XP x64 and run mediaportal! WOOT! Now its time to set it up!

Thanks again guys and one last thing, I love mediabrowser for MCE, its an awesome plugin that downloads movie info images and such and has a nice menu. Do you guys have something like that?
