Hello,
I want to buy a TV card.
My requirements are
- DVB S and S2
- external
- should work with windows Vista, XP and Linux
- should also work with mediaportal ;)

I found the TechnoTrend TT-connect S2-3650 CI, USB but there is a ? in the line of the card in the support information.
Has anybody experiences with this card or can recommend me another one?
Ps.: are there DVB S2 cards which have a MPEG 4 harware encoder?

Thanks for your help.
Thomas.

    Hello,

might be a misspelling - a DVB-Card receives already encoded signals via satelite oder cable. They dont need an encoder. What you mean is a decoder which is able to decode the stream. But this will always be done in the software stack of the operating system - especially the directX Stack. Therefore you need a software decoder like powerDVD or others. They are able to decode MPEG or H.264 signals.

If it is in your financial range, I always recommend the digital everywhere TV Cards "FloppyDTV" or as an external solution the "FireDTV". These cards have the highest stability. But keep in mind: They are connected with firewire, not usb.
