Lose TV (dvb-usb stick) signal when resuming from "Sleep" (1 Viewer)

Nice setup of Mediaportal 1.02 on XPSP3 on an old Shuttle SG43G. I have a KWorld USB DVB Stick attached for television viewing.

(I believe this is a different issue to a similarly named thread, my physical TV does come back on I get MP up and can use it, apart from TV module in MP)

When sending the PC to Sleep from MP menu, PC goes off (not into a low power sleep state) and this happens really quickly. No amount of changing settings in bios or XP Power settings makes any difference. Tried Hiberate but this refuses to resume.

So, when sending to sleep all goes OK, and on pressing power button on PC MP comes almost straight back up. However, if I browse to TV I get a small window telling me there is no TV signal / cannot start Timeshifting.

To get TV working again I have to shut down the PC and start up again. A restart doesn't do the job.

I guess the driver/setup/power issues for the USB stick are being affected.

Anyway I can reactivate TV viewing after resuming?

There is a delay setting for detecting tuners in the TVServer config, try setting that for 20 seconds.

Also in the powerscheduler plugin, reinitiliase tuners should be used.

With both above settings a usb tuner should then work after resume, just to add, I do not use the power button to turn off, I have powerscheduler do that after 5 minutes, this guarantees events for next resume for recording are properly completed.

Can I ask, which powerscheduler plugin (the one in TV Server config, MP config or both) ??
I enabled both to shutdown after five minutes. It took a few seconds longer to switch off the PC, but not by much.

re power button, I mean the one on home screen on the left of the four screen buttons at the top. I only use the power button on the PC to bring the PC back from "sleep", as remote (ATi) and keyboard (USB wireless) won't do the job.

I fear my sleep/hibernate functions on the PC/XP are not connecting up properly...?

This could be an issue with your video driver, I had the same problem with ATI Xpress driver for winXP (microsoft driver). The way I solved this was to get a newer driver from ATI and forced the installing of this driver.

That should be fine, as they are my settings.

To get TV working again I have to shut down the PC and start up again. A restart doesn't do the job.

So lets be exact in testing this, after a resume, kill tvservice in taskmanager, wait 1 minute and restart using TVServer config, go to channels and try and preview.

Do you get TV or not.

If you repeat above thats stopping the TVService, then unplug the TV tuner, wait 30 seconds and then reinsert back into the exact same usb port, now restart TVService and check preview again.

Any change.

OK some progress.

If I switch on the PC and walk away for a while, it will boot up to MP interface, then after @ five minutes shuts down (as expected because it is "idle".

A press on the PC power button brings the PC back to life immediately, with the MP interface, and TV works

However, if I force the PC to go to sleep through the MP interface (bringing up the shutdown menu and selecting Sleep), when I resume I have no TV. It is the sleep routine when forced that is the problem - it happens too quickly.

If I could resist the temptation and just leave MP to idle I would be OK, but would prefer to take positive action
How to get the same response as when I leave the PC alone
