Hey can anyone reccomend a low profile DVB-T card that works well in MP. I need a low profile incl brackets for my case (origen s10v) as there is no place to fit anything bigger in there.

I have been eksperimenting with the hauppauge hvr-2200 in MediaPortal 1 but can not get it to run propperly
No matter what I do I keep getting vertical filckering accross the screen (looks like lines cutting through the picture)as soon as the camera pans/moves.

I have tried several drivers incl the latest from New Magic + different codecs aswell and the result is the same...Flickering from hel*

I am using the onboard VGA via DVI on a G45 powerd board.
The latest Intel Chipset driver (tried older ones too and in all thinkable screen resolutions)
Windows Vista Ultimate x64

Now what really disturbs me is that the card performs flicker-free in Vista's Mediacenter.

Well the Hauppauge Nova-T 500 is low profile, but it doesn't come with the low profile bracket as standard, you could try contacting Hauppauge to see if they are able to supply one.

I know of a couple of people that got low profile brackets when they were given engineering samples when the cards were first out.

If you have a free PCI-E slot, the Compro VideoMate E700 seems to work very nicely and comes with a 1/2 height backplate as well as the standard one. (using onboard Geforce9400 output on a Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H).

    I've got this card

    BlackGold

BlackGold Technology Ltd :: TV Tuner Products :: BGT3540 :: 6 in 1 :: Dual digital satellite, Dual digital terrestrial, Dual analogue terrestrial :: PCI express card

It's a bit price, but is the only card I've found that has dual satelite tuners. In the UK, if you plan to go HD then you need satelite, and without dual tuners you can't watch and record different channels.

So while you might not want satelite capability just yet ... you might if you want to go HD.

Comes with a low profile and standard fitting. 64 bit compatable. Works really well for me

Thanks for the suggestion. Im recieving a Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA 500 HD today and hopefully everything will run smooth. I have chosen this card as the Danish DVB-T signal will switch to h.264 compression in the near future,

I contacted Hauppauge support a few days back the card isen't bundeled with a l.p. bracket and they have shipped one off for me.

If this card dosen't do it for me I'll return it and most likely go for the "BlackGold 6 in 1"
Question is will this card be able to decode H.264?

you mention satelite for HD what's the solution for "pay channels" and and descrambling those?

The tuner card does not do any decoding of the actual video, that is all left to the playback software (MediaPortal in this case).

One thing to note about the Blackgold is the lack of DVB-S2, this is how HD is usually broadcast, so you will need to make sure that isn't going to be an issue for you before purchasing.

There have been driver issues with the Blackgold, but perhaps they have been sorted out now.

I Have been testing the Nova T-500 HD for quite some time now and have been unble to get a smooth DVB-T signal.

After having watched TV for approx 30 mins the picture begins to stutter like crazy and the frame rate drop dramatically to approx 10fps. I Have checked the TV Server and the Signal Strength is only around 50 percent where as my old rig that's running a Hauppauge HVR-1300 peaks out at 100 percent using the exact same antenna. I must conclude that the Nova T-500 has very poor reception abilities.

    Status:
Hauppauge HVR-2200 - Card returned as it produced horizontal tearing when the TV image panned.
Hauppauge Nova T-500 HD - Card returned due to poor reception ability that caused image stuttering

    The quest continues.......
