I must conclude that the Nova T-500 has very poor reception abilities.

That's really weird, because this card was once the market leader in reception, mine is currently receiving 47% signal strength and 100% quality, with no breakup\distortion seen

Try a pci-e card and see if there is any major difference, could even be the pci bus screwing things up, all motherboards are not equal :(

    Regards

    USB TV Dongle

Hey can anyone reccomend a low profile DVB-T card that works well in MP. I need a low profile incl brackets for my case (origen s10v) as there is no place to fit anything bigger in there.

If you are short of space why not try an external USB dongle tuner?

I have had a USB KWorld dual tuner working for several weeks without any apparent problem with either SD or HD reception. I'm using MP TV Server and it installed straight out-of-the-box. I've even found that I can record two channels similtaneously while a watching a third as long as two of the channels are on the same carrier- I'm not quite sure how this works - probably a codec feature.

I also find that it is an advantage to plug the dongle directly into the TV wall socket and connect it with a long USB cable which is more flexible than a TV co-ax.

I use the same Kworld 399U dongle - as you say, good performance and no installation problems.

Each DVB RF channel carries a 'mux' of TV/radio channels (e.g. in the UK about ten channels per mux). If the third channel is on the same 'mux' as one of the others MP can do this.

I also have a single-tuner DVB stick, and the Compro software can show up to 4 channels simultaneously if they are from the same mux - nice trick!

Someone knows if Pinnacle 2000i pc-tv dual dvb-t works well with mediaportal? I want to buy a new dual dvb-t tuner pci card and I am going to choose between that Pinnacle and and Hauppauge nova-t 500. What do you think about?

    Status:
Hauppauge HVR-2200 - Card returned as it produced horizontal tearing when the TV image panned.
Hauppauge Nova T-500 HD - Card returned due to poor reception ability that caused image stuttering

    The quest continues.......

...and the winner iiis....... the "VideoMate Vista E700"
The card is recieving both Signal Level and Signal strength at 100% resulting in a nice and smooth stream.
To top it all off the card came bundled with a Low Profile bracket, so I couldn't be happier

One must be glad that you're happy -- but the fact that you have a card that performs well with a high level & (presumeably) high quality input signal doesn't, IMO, make it a "winner". I would put my money on a card that can produce a satisfactory picture with a low level & poor quality input signal.

My thoughts on this, were around the pci bus having some sort of conflict, bypassing that to use the pci-e has fixed this, but maybe still left a pci issue with the motherboard.

    Who knows ;)

Im all in for suggestions, lets rule out the dongle as this thread is about low profile cards?
