Lower DVD read speed (1 Viewer)

Is there a way to reduce the DVD read speed, so I can watch movies without listening to the drive spinning?
I only want to do this on movie watching. On other normal tasks, like DVD ripping I want to take advantage of the drive full speed.
Zoom player allows to use a auto-execute program before playing any movie. The problem is that I didn't find any program to do this.

Anydvd also has the option of setting the reading speed
