I have the complete Michael Clayton 1080p Blu-ray on my harddisk. Plays fine with Nero 8 Showtime (including menu's). The single 16.91GB mts2 file plays fine too with bsplayer and ffdshow. But if I start the file in mediaportal I get this message:

m2tsfileerrorrr7.jpg

When I click 'ok' the file starts, but I have no image, only audio. It plays fine, I can skip and see the OSD, but the screen stays black. When I play the same file with bsplayer on my pc, and enable 'fullscreen video' in the nVidia settings (7900GS), it also shows just fine on my plasma tv. As you can see I've experimented quite alot, but still can't get it to work. Any one that knows why?

I suspect it has something to do with the Haali Media Splitter, because when I play the m2ts file with bsplayer, and I select a subtitle by clicking on the icon, it gives me the exact same message it does in MP.
The Michael Clayton m2ts file contains 4 audiostreams and 4 subtitles. The audiostreams I can select succesfully within MP, the subtitles I can not, neither can I in bsplayer.

Config:

Windows XP SP3
AMD 64 X2 6400+ CPU
Geforce 7900GS with Forceware 174.16
Panasonic Plasma 42'
Mediaportal 0.2.3.0 + recent nightly build
ffdshow build march 20th 2008
Haali Media Splitter 29.12.2007

Haali with Mt2S

I use the Haali Media Splitter V1.7.40.1.3 and it then uses the FFDSHOW video decoder and audio decoder.
MT2S files work for me in GraphEdit and also with ConvertHQ ( a neat conversion app using DirectShow filters -look up conceiva).

In your case it looks like the Video Stream Can not be rendered. Try installing the latest ffdShow and make sure that you set FFDShow to play Mpeg2 streams.

I figured out how to solve my problem. If I disable VC-1 decoding within ffdshow, the file plays fine. MP then uses the 'WMVideo Decoder DMO' instead of ffdshow. So it's clear it is an mediaportal problem, because if I let ffdshow decode VC-1 files, it shows just fine in bsplayer. The WMVideo Decoder DMO codec is not as good as ffdshow, because when you seek within the file the file looses audio for a few seconds and the video plays to fast. This gets back to normal pretty soon after the seekaction. I'd prefer to use ffdshow.

Another peculiar thing is that Mediaportal does play other VC-1 files (or better; video files encoded with the VC-1 codec).
For instance the file 'The.Air.I.Breathe.2007.Bluray.VC1.1080P.5.1.WMV-NOVO.wmv' plays just fine (with ffdshow as decoder).

The conclusion of this complex story is that m2ts files with VC-1 codec do not play in mediaportal if you use ffdshow to decode them.

I use MP 0.2.3.0 without any nightlybuilds, because the last ones were a true disaster, half of my files didn't even start (directshowfilter problems of some sort)
