I also have a mini toslink adapter and connected the mini to my dennon (3808CI) receiver. MP can play DVD's and I get audio but I do not think its Dolby Digital. Normally when I play a DVD from a DVD player/360/PS3 the back lit words on my receiver switch from PLIIX to Dolby digital. with MP it stays PLIIx I have not verified that the DVD is actually DD 5.1 but it is season 3 of Battlestar Galactica and I cannot imagine it is not.
