thanks i must have missed/forgot about that answer.

nevertheless, im still looking for an utility that will send magic packets to the server every Xmin so that if the client is awake, then the server is also.(even if its not using the server, just so its ready in case of need)

have not found it yet

Windows task scheduler?
That can do it. I think my filelock check idea is a little more flexible though

Ill try to create a schedule that runs every 10min for example. I am not sure if its possible in task scheduler, at least in Win XP is not possible.

hopefully the cmd window will not interfere with fullscreen media playback, or whilst gaming when it is launch.
if i had some spare time i would write a mini program that does this. should take too long and not too difficult.
