Make MediaPortal User aware - multiple uses! (3 Viewers)

Hi,

Started my rablings in this thread

but thought it would be good to canves the opinion of another developer to see what the scope of this request could be.

My idea bascially revolves around MP having the concept of a user.
Then plugins like MyTVSeries could use this info so a user gets their watched list on every machine;
MCEreplacement plugin could then switch through these defined users using a method set and it could be tied in with mapping switching function to provide visual feedback, etc...

Not used the rest of MP much yet, but I guess it would also be useful in MyTV if that tags watched recordings; or to define personal favorites or views, etc...

I can tell you that this idea has been brought up several times and has been discussed by the developers in great detail.

If it was implemented in MediaPortal at the moment it would have very far reaching consequences and would most likely break compatibility with older plugins. A lot of work would have to be done to get this in.

I can't say that it wont happen. But I can say that it wont happen soon.

To hopefully inform more people of what this could mean to MediaPortal and it's functionality.

As i describe in that thread I realise that it would take ALOT of codeing and effort but I think it will be a very usefull function that could tip the boat to MP instead of some other alternatives out there....
