I am running the version of Moving Pictures that came with StreamedMP-0.4.298.exe

How do you manually add an "original" movie file? Like maybe a .mov file you created or downloaded? Something that isn't in any online databases?

If I could get it started, it would be easy enough to give it a title, short description and a picture.

Moving Pictures is designed with feature films in mind, not for short/home videos. I myself use MyVideos for that purpose. But if you insist on using Moving Pictures, just enter any film you want in the search string, then edit each field+add cover art manually.

I have a lot of fanedited films and I just import the original film, then edit all fields that differ (playtime, cover etc.)

No, you can do this very easily. In the Importer Panel in the configuration screen there is a toolbar button that looks like a blank sheet of paper with a pencil (or something like that). It allows you to add the movie to your collection, unmatched to anything online. Then you can switch to the Movie Manager tab and fill in all the details., add artwork, etc.

I wouldn't mind having yet another separate section to but these misc videos (since it doesn't appear that you can easily remove "Videos" from the main menu).

However, I have a video setup in there with an image and description, but it doesn't show up. All I can do in Videos is see the actual files and file-names (all of them) and play them. I'm not sure but I think either TV-Series or Moving Pictures disables the "Videos" database function. Maybe it's just the StreamedMP Skin.

I'm not sure how I missed that... Works like a charm.

Hmm unless I'm blind I can't see any 'sheet of paper' icon in either of these screens? Am I in the wrong section? This is with the freshly released 0.70.

Sorry, poor description before. It is the pencil with the green plus on the Movie Importer.

The Manually Assigned Selected Files button? In the case of the screenshots above, won't that re-allocate the selected movie "Yellow" to whatever other movie name I type in? Can I only use this feature for new movies when the importer hasn't automatically found some pending movies to include?

It will remove Yellow from your movie collection and create a new "blank" movie assigned to the files that formerly belonged to "Yellow". The intended work flow is for the files to show up in the importer, you click the manual assign button, and then fill the details in in the Movie Manager.

Oh I see. I forgot that ALL movies end up in the importer.. so HomeMovie1.avi will end up there and can't be assigned, hence manual assignment. Makes sense.
