"Many" album covers not showing up (1 Viewer)

Being frustrated with Media Center, I thought I would try Media Portal (V1.4). So, downloaded and installed it today. Looked through all the configuration screens. Enabled scrobbler. Signed up for a last.fm account and set that up. Went into the scrobbler config screens and enabled it. Added my music locations (on a server share). I see some album art show up but not very much at all. I went and looked C:\program data\thumbs\etc (as per the wiki) but don't even see that thumbs folder.

It seems that many pictures and AVIs don't show up in "Pictures". Is there a setting somewhere that tells MP to search subfolders that I missed?

Any thoughts anyone?
Where are the thunbs and album art stored?
Where is any MediaPortal database kept?
Is there a way of browsing all pictures under a given folder name and its subfolders?

Thanks,

Kevin

Start Menu -> All Prog -> Team MP -> MP -> User Files

Then go -> Thumbs -> Music or -> Database

The music scrapers sites changed making them require an update, and I'm not sure how well they are working at the moment (All my music has embedded art). I recommend having your album thumbs embedded into the mp3 files.

I recently tried Picard. https://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Picard ... it's pretty amazing once you get past the crappy GUI. It is an mp3 tagger, but it is more automatic than most. It identifies tracks using clustering + acoustic signitures. If you want a more manual process then mptagthat or tag&rename are good.

If you want to do automatically within MP then try the new version of the internal scraper (in development) that will be released in the next version of the MP. https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/posts/1017943/

Thanks for the prompt response. Any idea of when the next release will be out (V2 I presume that I have seen commented about)?

So, for the moment album art won't be too good, but as mantioned above (edit from the original post), I see very few folders showing in my pictures either.

In the Music Folders dialog box, it appears that if I add 2 separate folders (mine and my wife's) that I can only select one?

My network share for this is like:

    z:\Music_Pictures
    Music
    KE_Music
    GE_Music
    Pictures_AVIs
    KE_Pictures
    GE_Pictures

I've attached the Music Folders dialog box as a Word Document.

Kevin[DOUBLEPOST=1375744019][/DOUBLEPOST]OK, having followed that path that you showed me I see all the folder art etc.

Your statement " I recommend having your album thumbs embedded into the mp3 files." - not sure what I have to do to do that?

MediaPortal2 is a complete rewrite and completely different program.

Next version of Mediaportal1 is MP1.5 and due out in 1-2 month i think (i forget the date)

    Re: Music

You are probably in shares view (Folder/Explorer view), not database view.

    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...Portal_Configuration/3_Music/2_Music_Database

Add root music folder(s) it will scan subdirs
Click the [X] box next to folders
    Scan to database

    ..

    Run MP
Select A database View, eg. album artists.
'Shares View' is basically file explorer view

OK, thanks again.....I added that check box and re-updated the database (and see more album art showing now). BUT, I guess what I am seeing is the "icon" in MP which equates to a folder I have on my server share for a given artist. That folder has one or more albums for a given artist. I have attached a second screenshot illustrating what I mean.

Although under Jazz, I do see 2 album covers for Walter Beasley and The Sax Pack but not the Rippingtons. The Rippingtons does show all the album art once I go into that folder.

So, it sounds like MP doesn't show any art for a given artist (where there is a folder containing albums by a single artist).

    Regards,

Kevin[DOUBLEPOST=1375750188][/DOUBLEPOST]Does MP "support" a PC with Multiple screens? I have my primary display as the left display. The left display has a 2 row height system tray, so when playing music the artist name is partially hidden underneath the system tray. Not having a "windows" style bar at the tiop of the screen, how do I shift the MP display to the right (secondary) screen? Maybe not?

However, when I clicked on the MP display, it becomes at the "front", so now I do not see system tray. When clicking anywhere on the secondary screen, I see the system tray pops up over the MP display.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

MP is HTPC software, so it's not really designed to be moved around and operated with a mouse and works best if fullscreen.

Understood. I'm "playing" with this in a temporary apartment (where I have the server and a couple of PCs) until I retire at the end of October. Then, it's off to the new home in FL. There, I have the house wired for ethernet with CAT6 and intend to setup a WDTV etc. So, I'm trying to get all the music and pictures etc setup for that.

Thanks a lot for your advice.

    Regards,

    Kevin
