Hi Guys

I cant get my head around this issue of Remote mapping
I have the Hauppauge MCE remote which works fine using
the microsoft profile under remote..in Media Portal config (version 1.1.0)

But how do I know what to tell the keys what to do
if I want to remap their command/effect in Media Portal ...StreamedMP...or Movingpictures

as an example... the Hauppauge RC6 remote has a green windows Button
which in Windows starts up Vista media center...
now of course I want to use it for starting up Media portal!

So I have to disable the link to VMC..good enough ..done!

So when I go into the mapping area under Media portal ..
and look at the associated key..in this case ..the ..Start key
how do I know what to change it to ...to instead start Mediaportal???

Is there a list of commands for mediaportal that you use??
to do various navigation and action commands..with the interface of Media portal..StreamedMP and MP??

On another topic...I am trying to write some kind of menu guide for a friend
on Moving Pictures..Streamed MP etc

so I need to to know how to do menu captures(I suppose screen captures)??
This is in Vista SP1...

I would then import them into word
or something similar..to include description text

any tips welcome

MEDIAPORTAL - free media center - Input

MPTray or MPTrayMod should do what you want, just extract all contents to the MediaPortal installation folder and run the install.bat, that makes sure MPTray is run at system startup, so you will either have to run MPTray.exe manually or reboot.

Now the green mce button will start MP.

F11 is the keyboard screenshot shortcut, this puts things in a dated folder in My Pictures, best way of doing this is to map F11 to a unused coloured button, or use a program like irserversuite (search here) to define all remote button use, including the above mce green button.

    Thanks for the response Paranoid!

So the MPtray when set to startup when Vista starts..
will deactivate normal VMC remote key activation??

and thus allow for my remote to be programmed to do
such things as use the green button to start Mediaportal??

I got the impression IRserversuite was old now..
or somehow had been incorporated into the
    newer 1.1.0 version of Mediaportal?

So you are saying it is still current ?
    its not a plugin I assume ?
    but a program?

I will try and see if F11 puts screen captures first where
you said they should go in the Pictures area under its own folder

Is IRserver suite very easy to reprogramme keys??

    No follow rekenaar's guide S7 https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/newcomers-forum-240/my-own-frequently-asked-questions-faq-53790/

See if you can get things as you like them without irserversuite, if not then try it, sorry really do not have that much experience with it myself, but I know it has had some updating done to it recently, even though Aaron (and81) its developer has not been active for some time due to home life.
