My neighbor and I share the same LAN, I have a TV server he don’t. I have installed MP for him on his computer and told him that he is free to watch TV whenever I’m not home or any records I have made, nice for him since he don’t even own a TV (damn student… ). I also told him it’s ok to watch TV if he watches the same channel as I am, and here’s the problem – or question, let’s take an example that occurred a few days ago.

I was watching a hockey game, he knew I was going to watch the game so he also tuned his MP to that channel, when commercials came on I started switching channels back and forth, thus interrupting his broadcast, and when I switched back he could start his “TV” again.

Now to the question… is there a possibility that I somehow start a “master” stream and whatever I do and channel I switch to is what he sees on his MP? So that my MP client is master and his is a slave?

    Hi!

Maybe he entered your stream instead of started TV? That is possible in TV menu.

edit: how many TV-cards do u run? its only possible to share a card if its tuned to the same mux/transponder.

From what I get… I can in the TV Server menu start a broadcast stream, however this stream is locked to one channel – not the way I’d like it. I simply want him to see whatever channel I am tuned to. If I change channel his MP should do that too...

I have one digital (firedtv with cam) and one analogue (happuague pvr 150) receiver. And like you say, within the same mux/transponder there is no conflict. If I get another firedtv, another cam and another subscriber card it would just work – and also cost me money…

...tell him to use your "stream" in TV menu.
Hi, I tested this as I was interested in a solution for that also; does not work. The stream obviously is "connected" to the channel also, and is interrupted when the channel changes.

Just like Alfred says, don't work. If I switch channel he gets "Timeshifting stopped by another user" at his end.
Damn, would have been so great.

    that's a pity that it didn't work the way u wanted :(

I don't think there is another way, i think its the same behaviur if u switch channel from server configuration (in manual control)?

u have to go for more tv-cards ;)

4Fred, send me a pm and i tell u about my setup :D
