MCE blaster does not work as expected (1 Viewer)

I have tried to use the MCE blaster with the replacement plugin to turn my PLV-Z2 Sanyo beamer on and off. Unfortunately, without success so far.

On one hand, the IR command does not seem to be registered correctly (the beamer is not turned off even if I hold the IR emitter very closely to the beamer's receiver). On the other hand, I understand from the posts in this forum that the MCE blaster is not recommended hardware for sending commands over a distance of ~5 meters.

What is your experience? What would you do in my situation?

The little IR bud needs to be adhered to the receiver window on the device you're trying to control. It has an extremely short range!

There is a little adhesive strip on the underside of the blaster bud and that is so you can stick it on the device you're trying to control. We're talking about an effective range measured in millimeters, not meters.

If you find the blaster to be impractical or unreliable then you could try using the RS232C connection on the Projector to control it. The sanyo web site has rs232 codes for their projectors and using either the MCE Replacement Plugin, or the IR Server Suite (MP Control and MP Blast Zone plugins would be a good place to start) you could easily control the the projector.

I've attached the RS232 code document for your projector from the Sanyo website, I'm not 100% sure what the codes mean but with a small amount of experimentation (or additional googling) you should be able to figure it out.
