    Hi,

I finally got hold of an official MCE reciever and this now works and is recognised in the server suite.

Now, I would like to use my Logitech Harmony remote control as I can add loads of buttons (many more than the current remote) to use for different things like shutting down the PC and a seperate key for launching MP etc etc. When I press keys on the Harmony on the remotes page, it doesnt seem to notice my key presses, but it does when I use the MCE remote control? What is wrong here?

When I go into the control plugin and look at remotes, there doesnt seem to be a way to create a remote template from scratch? How would I do this?

    Thanks!!

You need to set up your harmony with a MCE template from the "add new device" in the Logitech Harmony Remote Software.

Yes, I have done that already, but I want to add additional buttons like My Films and My TV Series on my remote. What I have done is added commands from other old remotes I dont use anymore, which now leaves me with more buttons than the standard MCE template allows. I want to add additional keys to the MCE remote map which I can then bind the IR codes in the plugin and assign them to functions in MP..

Do you understand what I'm trying to achieve? Do you know which files I need to create to do this? I have found files in the program data but there doesnt seem to be a "Basic" "Full" MCE template which would match the drop down list in the plugin but I can't find them?

All I can find is this...

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IR Server Suite\Input Service\Abstract Remote Maps\Microsoft MCE\Microsoft MCE.xml

    Thanks!

Well, my biggest problem was having a receiver which IR suite wasn't currently supporting. Maybe this is your problem.

    What receiever are you using?

    Heres what I did.
Install a device on the remote "PC -> Microsoft -> media centre" from logitechs software

Totally un-install IR suite (I also manually deleted any reference to IR suite in program files for good measure)
    Fresh install of MediaPortal
Install RC1 version of the suite (main IR suite post)
Copy the update files (from the same main post as the RC1 files) to the correct folder
Open up the input service configuration from the start menu and select your receiver

Now open the plugin from within mediaportals config (right click it in the plugins tab and goto configure)
Select MCE remote from the drop down list of the first screen you see when you open the config for the plugin
Expand "Play" or "Stop" from the remote map you just added
When you press a key on the remote it should tell you the IR code. If it doesnt then it isn't seeing the codes through your receiver

This is the problem I had so I went on ebay and brought a "genuine" Microsoft receiver and MCE remote. Cost about £25 UK.

Soon as I plugged this in, and setup the input service for MCE receiver the codes where displaying fine and I was able to map my keys to the keys in the plugins remote map.

I just want to add more keys to the map so I can create more keys on my actual remote for things like shortcuts to myfilms etc but not by tying up any of the standard MCE remote. I dont know your remote, I have the 885 but I can add "buttons" to the screen on the top of the actual remote control and flick through them like pages.
