MCE Remote Control And HiP (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone, been fiddling around with HiP for the past few days, from tutorials on this site, i've managed to get Media Portal running again, and with the ability to switch my AMP to the correct input at the same time....nifty.

But with the installation of HiP, it's also brought the crippling of functionality with Media Portal, I've managed to get most of the keys i need working again except for a very important couple of keys.....

Play and Pause!!!!!

Media Portal(RC2, specifically CVS build 27-02-06) has the combined play/pause button of 'space', now with the default driver this all works fine, but its seperate on the remote, with the standard driver MP seems to understand this and act accordingly, but with the HiP driver i'm stumped.

IS there a way to seperate the two buttons as key commands? I hope i'm not asking something really stupid. Current behavior is it will pause for a second and start again, likewise if it's paused it will play for a second and then pause again.

BTW everything else works fine

Yup, a stupid question, created two new items in 'keys and sounds' for different buttons, then applied them in HiP, working like a treat

Well chuffed!

......Not so chuffed! If i use pause and play in that fashion, i see a graphical shift(all pixels move over to the right and back) twice, then the video will restart from the beginning, whereas space doesn't have the same effect. But it only happens with certain files, so i'm a little confused about that, will have to check which codecs are being used for it.

I'll see how it goes, any other suggestions would be appreciated.

You can use 'p' for play and 'space' for pause if you have separate buttons on your remote? Or am I missing something that you want to do here.

Yeah, ummm.....i didn't quite see the p part anywhere, it's not often i've ventured into using keyboard shortcuts whilst using MP, always used the remote, the screen corruption is probably a fault on my end. Just been a little tough getting my head around HiP

Sure, i don't see why not, i think i've taken a few extra steps that weren't needed due to lack of information, but the HiP settings turned out to be pretty easy.

I think the key to HiP working properly especially with other devices is the 'keys and sounds' option, custom keys for specific modules can be added without affecting global commands, or something like that, once i've got everything set up(almost there) i'll see if i can get the config file, or basic steps.

But there is someone who made a guide on these boards, could always add something to that

Not one Sony IR command is working yet.
