MCE Remote Focus with Extended Desktop (1 Viewer)

Hi

Can someone point me in the right direction

I have a WinXP Pro PC with 2 Displays / Extended Desktop and MCE Remote

MP loads on Screen 2 and when in focus works fine with the remote

However if im working away on screen one, MP must loose focus and the MCE remote no longer works with MP
until i click back on MP


How can i make the remote work with MP whether its in focus or not?

There is an option in the MP config screen "MP always on top" - which should mean it always has focus. That would be my solution, however you state that you want the MCE remote to work even if MP is not in focus? Not sure that could be done, but you could program a button to ALT-TAB and allow you to select focus.

Do i need a third party program to intercept the key press's and send them to Mediaportal?

Yeah, something like Intelliremote or Eventghost (I have used both at various times), which can map buttons on your remote to either keystrokes, run apps or specific "events" on your system (i.e. shutdown, minimise window etc)

I suggest using Event Ghost to assign an event to the MCE Green Window Button (or other button).

I do this and it acts like:
Press Btn --> Exectute keyboard button "H" (goes home if MP in focus) --> Windows command make MP the focus.

Therefore, if MP is not the focus, pressing the btn will make MP the focus, but not go Home. Pressing again will make MP navigate to the Home (with the Short Cutter plugin). Since MP is already the focus, MP stays the focus.
