I think I've decided on getting a MS MCE remote... but upon looking, I can't find them a major retailers. Even Newegg doesn't have them.

I see a MS XBox 360 remote... which states it supports MCE remote functions. Is this the new MCE remote?

I do see them in Amazon, but listed under other vendors (not Amazon).

Any help in directing me to a place to buy them would be helpful.

Also, does IR reciever come with the remote?

I am not sure if there is a new MCE remote, but I do belive that Phillips has one with the same functions. Could someone perhaps confirm/deny this?

Trust (the brand), makes an mce remote. It is rather cheap and supposed to work pretty well.

You should find it almost everywhere, and not only on internet.
And yes, it comes with a receiver.

I would be surprised if you don't find that in any Wallmart, D&H or Radioshack !

    Good to know it :D

Seriously, yesterday evening, on the french forums we were thinking about Wireless Graphic tablets, used as simple mouses in order to navigate in mp-portal.

If you do not find your remote, may be could this be an alternative ?

Otherelse, as a remote, you could also use a "Logitech dinovo mini" keyboard : it is as small as a remote, very design, and wireless.

Hauppage markets a USB MCE Remote control kit, from the photos looks very similar to the Microsoft product and around the same price, that is, when it was available.

The photo shows a black remote, but I have seen photos of silver ones, do not know if that is an option.

As far as I know the XBox 360 remote can be used as an MCE remote, read this a while ago, not first hand experience.

Just received a Trust remote today in the mail. They are very hard to find here in the U.S. I ended up buying off of the UK ebay. Took awhile to get here but I really like this remote.

It's the Trust RC-2400. The styling might not be for some people, but I think the retro design is really cool. I realized you said you are using xp, but what's to stop it from working with xp?
