Hi guys,

Trying to make the switch from 7mc to ediaportal, but have 1 major problem stopping me - the remotes do not work!

I have a Logitech Harmony One as my main remote, and is all configured and works perfectly in Windows Media Centre. In Mediaportal, only a handful of buttons work (u,d,l,r,ok,0-9,#,clr,ent) - this is the same before and after enabling the mce remote option and stopping the services for Media Centre.

Tried IRSS, and it didnt allow any key mappings (it just moved the selected option on screen instead), and Eventghost with the MCE and Mediaportal plugins added and enabled did not work either.

I have 2 other MCE remotes that do the same, so it is not the Harmony One with the error.

Can anyone shed any light on why it is not working, or if I have just missed something.

I'm not sure what Mediaportal log is relevant to this issue either.

Thanks for any help.

FYI the buttons you have working presently are "Windows buttons" and are handled by a different driver than the other buttons.

I have a client with Win7/64 and MCE remote. I don't recall any problems setting up the remote.

In addition to what you configured already, make sure Additional 3rd party checks > MPTray is enabled.

Attached is a screen shot of the Windows Device Manager showing the Human Interface Device (HID) entries. Several of these are for the eHome IR receiver. This computer has attached only an IR receiver, keyboard, and mouse. If yours looks different, that might be a clue.

Possibly a driver issue? Here is a diagram showing "work flow" of how a button press is interpreted. This is for iMON hardware specifically, but the general concept should apply to other types of IR receivers.
Soundgraph Forums - FAQ: Remote Controller

The button presses you have working are processed through the native (Windows) HID keyboard driver. Perhaps your device-specific driver is not functioning?

My MCE Remote used to convert all the buttons to keyboard input (ie STOP mapped to CTRL-S) and i used the keyboard input plugin to map the keyboard input to media portal commands.
I must have changed something, for the remote no longer issues the keyboard input, instead STOP maps to MediaStop. Most of the other buttons don't map to anything.

From reading around and your diagram it looks like i must have the HID keyboard driver missing, or not picking up from the USB IR iface?

Not sure what i have done or how to remedy it, but seems like a similar issue to those above.

I never installed any MCE software, and installing the MCE IR receiver drivers as discussed elsewhere on the forum makes no difference - I never see an IR device anywhere in my list of devices.

Since you already have IRSS it comes with a very useful Debug Client that will show you what your buttons are mapping out to. Use IR Server configuration to set up your remote and use the Debug Client to connect to the server. If all your buttons are working properly, you probably missed something during the setup. The Harmony One should really just work automatically.
