All great with PowerDVD Ultra providing H.264 decoding. 1080i stream from TV3 was OK and sound from 5.1 speak system perfect. All well so far.</p><p>Transferred card from one machine to another with similar specs but first machine had Radeon 9800 Pro card which struggled with framerate on 1080i (99% CPU), OK on 720p (40 - 70% CPU).</p><p>Second machine has Nvdia 8600 GTS and this operates flawlessly at 10% CPU. Watched "House" and "Bones" in full HD. Great! </p><p>Then set up first machine to receive stream from my server. Worked first time, brilliant.</p><p></p><p>Went back to my server and started up portal and whoa problem. It looks like it thought </p><p>(a) it was running low res as the menu screen is blurry; </p><p>and (b) it thinks its a remote client and is trying to find the server.</p><p>I tried setting up the server again as my machine name, then my local IP address. No luck. Deleted files under SQL database and started again, still same problem. TV server will not shut down. Had to reboot to stop it.</p><p></p><p>Time to fix this I thought and re-installed Media Portal and TV Engine. No luck</p><p></p><p>Right lest get serious. Un-installed everything, Power DVD, SQL Server, MediaPortal, TVEngine, deleted all folders under MSSQL, under team Media Portal etc and started again from scratch.</p><p>Installed first Media Portal but did not configure</p><p>Installed Media TV Server and configured, found my tuner, scanned channels, set up epg.</p><p>Fired up Media Portal configure and set to access my local machine by name.</p><p>Started and looked OK, guide is there but no picture or sound on any channels. In fact it seems to wait a few minutes to get the tuner started and then gives up, drops back to the menu.</p><p></p><p>I am so frustrated, I had it all going!</p><p></p><p>How do I get back to the very start without formating my computer?</p><p></p><p>Why did accessing my server from a remote client crash my local media portal client?</p><p></p><p>All polite suggestions welcome.</p><p></p><p>I found the filmerit tool on this site. It reported no file associated with cyberlink's H264 codec. I uninstalled and re-installed PowerDVD Ultra a second time and this installed the code correctly.
