Media Portal bundeld as other software... (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I recently saw a Swedish company which sells HTPC solutions with their own developed software called Extreme MP. I'm not sure, but when looking at screenshots from the software it's almost identical to Media Portal.
I'm not sure if the software is Media Portal with another name or if the company has developed their own...
And I don't know if the company is breaking any rules since the Media Portal software is open-source.

That looks _very_ much like MP.. I dont know exactly how open source works, but I thought they had to say it was based on some open source code - and keep their own change to it open source?

If this isnt MP code and/or gfx I'd be very surprised.

Is that all you have to do? Just dl MP, put your own icons in and voila you have something you can bundle/sell as your own? I like the idea of having someone setup mp in a store so it works out of the box for the customer, but they should link to this page when they use your software..

Another company from Turkey, they use MP for their HTPC which is called "wizbox 4000". However, and I also was told, they do not use TV3 engine, They implement DVB viewer to MP .And it was not "multishort" plugin. It was done nicely. Their web is www.botech.com.tr In their web page, HTPC has not been showed yet.

They have been working least two years on the their project. In their first project, they used 7" touch screen HTPC case, but right now, just with VFD display HTPC case. They have one programmer with them to adjust to MP for commercial use. Maybe someone from development team contact with them, asking them Dvbviewer pro's plug-in to share with us (sure not program just plug-in). MP and its plug-ins should stay freeware....
