When it works...

I have been on and off working on my HTPC for about 6 months. I can never to get it to work 100%. It seem each time I turn on the HTPC i have to make some sort of animal sacrifice to applease the gods that live in my HTPC.

Some days when I turn it on, the remote is not picked up and I would need to turn on my other pc to VNC in and restart media portal.

Some days when I turn it on, the tv tuner does not get picked up (Hauppauge Nova-S), it requires several restarts before the TV tuner starts working.

Some days Media Portal will not even start, the screen goes blank.

Most of the time, i just want to come home from work turn it on and off I go catching up on my tv shows etc. Instead I always end up facing a new problem and then "wasting" my time looking thru the forums for solutions to the problem.

:sorry: for the rant. Does many other Media portal users feel the same way?

Feeling the same atm, i suppose its an advantage that everyone is using our new PVR, otherwise i'd be getting yelled at.
I fix one problem and create another. Damn.

Im sure there are many other users who feel the same as you. I do too sometimes, but thankfully with the team locking down on feature creep and working to streamline the application im sure we will eventually see a positive change.

A large problem early on in development was that the MP developers were trying too hard to please everyone - adding features and requests for everything. This makes a program bloated, difficult to track down bugs, and a pain to maintain code. The focus though is much different than it was even a year ago though.
